Day 11
I slept until 8:40 this morning and those of you that know me, know that it is late for me. We had a target of around 70 km and got going about 10:00, after a breakfast of bread, jam and crepes. It seems to have worked as it kept us going all morning.
After we stopped for lunch about 12, we decided to get off a relatively busy D road and try to get to the coastal roads and did we!!!! Going down a slight incline towards a beach a vista opened up before us that revealed a beach stretching into the distance, it looked over 10 miles long (????) and took us the next couple of hours of cycling to ride the length of it. Gone were the grey clouds of yesterday and the big hills. We had sun, a nice breeze and really relaxed cycling, what a great last but one day to have! It matches with a number of other really greats days I have spent over here with David every year since 2012 doing one of these trips together.
We completed the day with a 12 km blast down a cycle lane alongside a main road and arrived at the hotel just before 18:00. Cleaned up and dinner at a place opposite the hotel. Hoping for another good nights sleep before the last day of riding tomorrow, it’s a relatively short day into Quimper. Then David heads home on Wednesday morning by train and I go the gite to meet up the Alderley Edge crew for another week over here. I just hope they don’t expect me to go walking on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!
Regards
Chris
